2022 Survey Results Report

Purpose

This report is intended to demonstrate to you exactly what people think. I am also using these results to know what to improve on if i’m not already aware of those issues. The results are primairly all unedited/unchanged with the exception of what is mentioned below the “What we removed:”.

What we removed

The following columns were removed because they provided little to no context because there were only two respondents for these questions which aren’t the purpose of this report:

  • Did you attend the event or were you not able to attend at the last minute?

  • Was this related to contracting COVID-19?

  • Were you able to resell your tickets?

The following column was removed because they don’t add anything of value.to this report:

  • Did you attend the event or were you not able to attend at the last minute?

The following column was removed as we want to protect people’s privacy:

What this survey report tells you:

  • This survey was sent to every Fruit Beer Fest 2022 ticketholder via the Universe.com website.

  • 170 people completed this survey.

  • The results of 168 people who completed this survey make up the detail of this report.

  • The results of 2 people who completed this survey did not make up the detail of this report because they reported that they were unable to attend the event after purchasing tickets.

  • The answer to “So overall, how would you rate the event?” is an average of 4.7 out of 5.

  • The answer to “How impactful were the burlesque performances and the music on your enjoyment at Fruit Beer Fest 2022?” is an average of 3.6 out of 5.

  • The answer to “And last but not least, the food?” is an average of 3.7 out of 5.

  • The most common answer on “What does the event need to improve on?” is primairly all food related. We had truck licensing issues up until the last day and this issue - and every other listed issue to improve on - will be resolved in the future.

  • The most common answer on “What should we add for next year?” is primairly all food related, followed by mentions of shade.

  • The most common answer on “Thanks again. Would you mind telling us how you heard about the event?” is “From a friend”, followed by “Instagram”, followed by “Facebook”, etc.

  • The answer to “Thank you. Did the event meet your expectations?” is an average 4.8 out of 5.

  • The result of the the question “At anytime did you feel unsafe at the event” is FALSE/No (165 people) and TRUE/Yes (3 people).

  • The answer to “And would you be likely to recommend us to a friend or colleague?” is an average 9.5 out of 10.

  • The answer to “Nearly there. How likely are you to attend another one of our events?” is an average 4.7 out of 5.

  • The most common answer on “How old are you?” is “25-34” (49.70%), “35-49” (38.46%), “50-64” (8.88%) and 65+ (0.59%).

  • The most common answer on “Where are you from?” is “East Vancouver” (34.64%), “South Vancouver” (11.73%), “Langley” (14%), “Port Coquitlam” (7.26%), “West Vancouver” (7.26%), etc.

What this survey report tells us:

  • Of the 1,985 people sent this survey.. 170 respondents to a survey is actually a pretty good response compared to previous surveys sent out.

  • I’m flattered to recieve a 4.7 out of 5 for “how would you rate this event?” despite some hiccups that occured.

  • People are coming for the beer and not explicitly performances and music. Being said, I find it impossible to exceed a 4 out of 5 as people have designated entertainment to be secondary to everything else. My goal is for everything to sync.. and to be 5s… We’ll get this tweeked out without overextending ourselves or without passing that cost onto you.

  • 4.5 out of 5 is pretty good for beverage options. We will have more cider, non-alcoholic options and beer available at the 2024 event.

  • The answer to “The organizer’s commitment to accessibility?” is an average of 4.6 out of 5 is a bit of a stretch. Someone pointed out to me that there should’ve been a “Skip” option and I regret not having that. Asking “able-bodied people” to answer to accessibiity was short-sighted of me. That said we’ve had some great feedback and have had some time to have deep reflection to what we can improve on for greater accessibility options.

  • The answer to “The organizer’s ability to communicate?” is an average of 4.8 out of 5 isn’t perfect but i’ll accept it. :) I find that communication is something that most people really take for granted and that it’s become this secondary thing as we’ve trained our minds to be so fast-paced that we tend to skip over providing more with what we say.

  • The answer to “And last but not least, the food?” is an average of 3.7 out of 5 is totally reasonable. It’s not quite “this was average” but it’s close. On the final two days before the event we learned that one truck was overweight and could not pass fire inspection, another truck we thought was coming was actually not coming and we confused them for another who was confirmed, and another had a truck break down and was not able to show up.

  • The most common answer on “What does the event need to improve on?” is primairly all food related and I get it. We will see improvements on that and on literally everything else that was mentioned. Thanks for sharing the details!

  • The most common answer on “What should we add for next year?” is also primairly all food related, followed by mentions of shade. We will have this figured out. As for shade, i’ve had the philsophy that “everyone must have access or no-one at all”. We can’t afford to have shade for everyone else but maybe a slight price increase can make those accomodations.

  • I’m super flattered to read that “From a friend” was the most common answer to “Where did you hear about us?”. Word-of-mouth really reduces our advertisement budget so that we can put it back into fun things for the event! Please keep telling your friends!

  • The answer to “Thank you. Did the event meet your expectations?” is an average 4.8 out of 5. Despite the things mentioned that we need to improve on… thank you!!

  • The result of the the question “At anytime did you feel unsafe at the event” is FALSE/No (165 people) and TRUE/Yes (3 people). I have personally reached out to the three people to learn about their experiences and what to improve on.

  • Thank you again to seleting an average 9.5 out of 10 for “And would you be likely to recommend us to a friend or colleague?”.. these things go really far to increasing your experience!

  • “Nearly there. How likely are you to attend another one of our events?” is an average 4.7 out of 5. See you at Hoppy Horror or Wild Night Out?

  • I’m not surprised by “25-34” being 49.70% of this survey demographic. I’m only a little surprised that there wasn’t as many “older folks” then this age group because we love surveys! (.. just kidding.. i’m not over 34..)

  • I’m a little surprised that the majority respondents of this survey are from East Vancouver.
